This research proposes an adaptive model that can be used to develop an intelligent system that uses automatable set of quality criteria and metrics, patient-profile and medical domain knowledge to help patients retrieve quality medical information from the web. We claim that this model can be used to develop an intelligent system in almost any domain in order to help users retrieve reliable and useful information efficiently.

The new conceptual model we propose is called the User-Centered Quality Information Retrieval (UCQIR) model, in which user-profile, domain knowledge, and information quality criteria are used for retrieving quality information from the Internet. The proposed model is significantly different from the extent models.
